Mental Health and Wellbeing

Here at Kingskerswell C. of E. Primary School, we believe that a child’s mental health and emotional wellbeing are just as important as their physical health. We know that, supporting children to feel happy, safe, and confident is essential if they are to learn, grow, and thrive both in and out of the classroom.

We understand that children and families can face challenges in their lives, big or small, and we are here to help them navigate these in a supportive and caring environment. Our whole school approach encourages children to talk about their feelings, build positive relationships, and develop resilience and coping skills.

Through our curriculum, pastoral care, and close partnerships with families, we aim to create positive relationships and provide a nurturing space where every child’s wellbeing matters. Together, we are helping our children to build strong foundations for lifelong good mental health and emotional wellbeing.

In this section you can view the ways in which we can, and do, support children and families with their mental health and wellbeing from the things we do everyday for everyone to the ways we can help when needs are greater. You can also access a directory of support for a range of mental health needs, all you need to do is scan the QR code for the 'Happy Maps Directory'.

There is also a useful links section that will take you straight to help and advice from some of the most respected and dedicated mental health charities.  This section also includes a link to the 'Children and Family Health Devon' site, where there are more helpful resources but you can also self-refer for support from mental health professionals.
